Welcome
Purple Tree Pet Care is a South Coast NSW–based business offering natural pet care products and holistic pet services.
The online store features a carefully selected range of pet supplies and health products, with a Purple Tree Pet Care natural product range launching soon.
A new pet services booking platform is currently in development and will soon offer a variety of holistic care options designed to support pets’ health, behaviour, and overall wellbeing.
During the warmer months, our hobby poultry farm offers fertile eggs to help you raise your own beautiful rainbow egg-laying flock.
The blog shares practical advice on natural pet care, wellbeing tips, safety information, and updates from both the online store and the hobby farm.
Founded by qualified veterinary nurse and holistic practitioner Kirsten Smit, Purple Tree Pet Care is built on a strong understanding of animal health, behaviour, and safety, reflected in every service and product offered.
About The Founder

Hello! My name is Kirsten, founder and driving force behind Purple Tree Pet Care. I proudly run this business solo, and no two days ever look the same. From managing farm operations and caring for pets, to handling customer service, designing and maintaining the website, and processing orders, I do it all. It may sound like a lot when you list it out, but I truly wouldn’t have it any other way.
I am a qualified veterinary nurse and clinical aromatherapist with a strong interest in animal health, behaviour and natural pet care. Supporting animals’ wellbeing has always been my passion, and I feel incredibly grateful to be able to make a positive difference in the lives of pets and their families.
I have worked and volunteered with a range of animal and wildlife organisations, including Wildlife Rescue South Coast, Wirrimbirra Wildlife Sanctuary, Symbio Zoo and local veterinary clinics, gaining valuable experience across both domestic and native species.
I bring extensive hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, small pets and exotics, and have been raising and caring for poultry for over 15 years.
Since completing my veterinary nursing qualifications, I have continued to expand my knowledge through professional development in animal naturopathy and complementary therapies, allowing me to offer a balanced, holistic approach to natural pet care.

Our Pets & Poultry

We care for and breed beautiful and rare Buff Orpington Ducks. They are an attractive breed of waterfowl and are considered to be a threatened species of duck.
Orpington ducks will be sure to entertain you as they happily forage in the garden and splash around in their provided water source. Learn More
We also have some lovely chickens including Silkies, and our free range rainbow layers which include Araucanas, Marans, olive and easter eggers. We will have fertile eggs available to purchase from our online store.
Our other pets include our two dogs, a munchkin cat, guinea pigs, and assorted aquatic pets.
I have attained certificates in veterinary nursing and animal care studies and have volunteered at various wildlife organisations and veterinary clinics.
On my blog I will be sharing articles related to pet and poultry care.
About The Name

Purple Tree Pet Care (Purple Tree Pets) was previously known as Going Quackers. We’ve had a name change in 2024 to incorporate some of our other pet related ventures into the one website. The name was inspired by the giant jacaranda trees that hang over our barn and provide shelter to wildlife.
While Jacarandas are not native to Australia, they have become naturalised in many parts of the country and are a common sight in many parks, gardens and streets.
In Australia, Jacaranda trees typically bloom in late spring to early summer. Our Jacaranda trees usually flower around the same time that our poultry is in the prime of their breeding season. It is the most exciting time of year on our farm when everything comes alive and our chickens and ducks are laying consistently.
However, it is not long before the flowers have all dropped off and there is a blanket of purple covering the ground. Then the cycle starts again…
